My students are amazing 4th and 5th graders. Many of them live in an impoverished area of San Jose, California, and most of those students hail from a 1 block radius of run down apartments. They come to school as a safe haven, and I love to see them every morning. Our school in general is made up of over 80% free and reduced lunch families, and about 85% Hispanic students. They are all absolutely wonderful kids who are ready to learn, but are lacking in materials.
