My group of students come to school from a community where it isn't safe to be outside and many eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at school. Although many have trauma in their lives, they come to school ready and eager to learn. They dream of going to college and having better lives for their families. They are aware of their challenges they face but continue to work harder than any other group of students I've seen. They need to have the same access to materials that other schools receive. They are always happy to learn new information and continue their research in a variety if ways. Many don't have prior life experiences but are so eager to learn and hope they can experience opportunities someday.
