I am a librarian at T. C. Roberson High School. When the STRIDE Club (Students and Teachers Realizing that Individual Differences Exist) asked if I would do a presentation on LGBT books at their next club meeting, I jumped at the chance. This would let me showcase books that directly relate to these students' lives. They would be interested. They would check the books out. They would read. I would help create lifelong readers who LOVE books. Then I pulled the LGBT books in our library collection. There aren't many. I have ordered some, but we just don't have much money and in the past few years have had to 'make do' more than I would like. MANY great new LGBT books have come out :) recently and I would love to have them available for our students.
