My fourth grade students arrive at school each day motivated to learn despite the academic challenges they face on a daily basis. Reading below the level of their peers (and some well below grade level), learning, at times, can be a tedious, daunting and frustrating experience for my students. It is my job to create instructional opportunities that are engaging, effective, interactive and multi-sensory to meet their individual learning needs. Due to their various disabilities and individual needs, my group of students are in my classroom all day and it operates like a "typical" classroom. Due to the smaller class size, I am able to create small learning groups. The root of most of their learning challenges is that they are reading significantly below grade level. As grade level material naturally becomes more complex, their reading disabilities impact their rate of progress when compared to their peers.
