Along with playing games my students also benefit from math manipulatives. Using a Renkenrek helps my students visualize groups of fives and tens. Students will improve their abilities to calculate, visualize numbers and understand place value. Building these foundations of math through manipulatives and math games is critical for my student's future math success. They don't feel the usual stress that students often encounter in math class. Without that anxiety, their brains are able to reinforce the connections that are being made while they are engaged in play. Their connections improve and they are ready to learn new concepts.
