Many of our students have never taken quality notes in math before and struggle to see how to organize their math on paper. A document camera allows me to show my students how to set up their work directly into their math notebook. They can see exactly what I do and how I organize my thoughts on paper. Virtual learning has forced all of us to revamp what school looks like. During virtual learning, we can use the document cameras to show our students how to take notes, we can display manipulatives for our students, and how to follow steps to effectively reason through math problems. When we are able to safely return to schools, document cameras can continue to be used! Students can bring their work up to the camera to show their thinking to all of their classmates. They can be used for whole group demonstrations when there are too many people to crowd around the source. This project will reach our entire student body of nearly 1,000 students. The cameras will stay mainly with the math teachers but can be used for read alouds in Language Arts, lab demonstrations in Science, visual representations with our English language learners, and so much more!
