The target students for the books I am requesting are elementary school girls and minority students. Many of my students come from second language backgrounds and many of their families struggle to make ends meet. My desire is for my students to see themselves in the lives of both real and make-believe female and minority characters that defy stereotypes, achieving in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. I want them to read science books and believe that they can be scientists, and read about engineers and mathematicians and believe that they can choose those career paths, too. Thank you for believing in my students!
