All of my students have Individualized Education Plans; they all qualify for special education services and their IQ are below 70. Most have single parent homes and receive government assistance. Most have short-term memory issues and demand a lot of re-teaching and repetition to acquire skills that the regular education student can attain in a 45-minute class. My students are performing academically on a first, second, and third grade level while in the middle school. Generally projecting educational gains for my students would be for them to achieve a 6th to 8th grade academic level. I have seen students who have the same disability and IQ level move from the resource setting to the regular classroom with collaborative assistance from a special education teacher. My observations lead me to believe these students have greater self-esteem and have had access to the Internet in their home. At this time, my students only access to the internet outside of school is the public library.
