In our fast-paced world, technology is everything. Teachers are now teaching younger, more tech-savvy youth than we ever have before! With the vast amount of science educational resources available online today, we are doing a huge disservice to our students if we do not make this easily accessible to them on a daily basis! Google Classroom and other related tools are arguable one of the greatest assets to ever become available to the education world. Not only does it give our students access to the abundant online resources and tools, but it also opens up the line of communication between teachers, students, and parents. This open line of communication allows for quicker feedback to the student about their progress, as well as more informed parents who are able to use that information for the betterment of their child's education. At the present time, we have approximately 1,100 students on our campus. Leading these 1,100 students are about 77 amazing educators, all of which have to attempt to share approximately 200 over-used laptops. Needless to say, it is an impossible task, often leaving multiple teachers without ever being allowed the opportunity to incorporate technology into their daily lessons. With the help of these Chromebooks, I will be able to give my students the educational experience they deserve! All of my classes are already enrolled in Google Classroom. These Chromebooks will make our group work, online practice/activities, independent work, and experiments much more meaningful and effective. This much-needed technology will provide the best science experience possible for my "eager-to-learn" 6th graders!
