My students have heart-breaking stories, yet they are still strong. I learn from them every day, and I am thankful that they are in my life. They do not yet have a passion for reading--something I hope to change. We work continuously to overcome differences in the classroom, and to learn from each other. I tell my students that I hope they do not just view my class as an English class, but more as a communications class. In order to thrive in the real world, it is crucial that they know how to effectively communicate--orally and through writing.
