Our school is a K-6 building with roughly 90 students per grade level. We are considered a rural school district. As a sixth grade social studies teacher, our major focus is Ancient and Medieval World History. My goal is to not have students simply interested in the subject--I want to get them excited about it! Our classes have attended museum field trips, performed historical plays for school audiences, participated in Medieval/Renaissance festivals, and designed a Chinese Terra Cotta army. Recently, we have acquired technology components such as laptop computers, projectors, and screens that have opened up new avenues of instruction and project ideas. A digital video camera would not only be beneficial for this Egyptian project but for a variety of events throughout the year.
