My students are in a high poverty area where about 75-85% of the school population receive free or reduced price lunch. We have a very transient population with a majority of single parent families and a large military affiliation. Our students are in a Title 1 school with 16 full day kindergarten classes. When the school year began, several of my students were unable to even recognize their name in print and had no preschool experience.
