Our school is a Title I low-performing school. At least 40 percent of the students come from families at the poverty level. Our computer lab is at least 15 years old. My classroom is equipped with one computer to 20 Spanish speaking kindergarten students. These students are ready to learn and many of them are already falling behind in education. As a teacher in this school I am limited to resources such as computers, books, pencils, paper, construction paper and so much more. I would like to have a center to boost early reading and math through the use of laptop computers. This early intervention will help tremendously. These children will be able to work at their own pace and receive plenty of practice and eventually become a fluent reader and a beginner mathematician. This center will allow me to create a positive lasting change that will allow students to succeed in life and venture forward.
