My class of 18 ESL students are housed in a portable classroom at the back of the school. In my class we have two operational computers which are shared between a teacher and the 18 students. Although our school district has purchased extraordinary educational resources to be used online, there is not enough money to provide the technology needed to run the programs. Many of these students are immigrants who have left their home country to come to the United States for better opportunity. Having technology at home is a luxury, one most of them do not have and sadly, because of the lack of technology in my class it is also not something they experience in school. These socio-disadvantaged students are eager to learn and try out these new experiences, but there are just not the technological resources to allow them to do so.
