If my project is fully funded, I will ensure that my more struggling readers have dedicated class time to read Scholastic picture books, novels, and magazines that complement what they are learning in class. For example, they can choose between a biographical text on Martin Luther King, Jr. to a magazine that delves into the fascinating facts about volcanic lava to any number of book packs that have received the Newbery or Caldecott Awards. I have chosen diverse fiction and nonfiction Scholastic reading material that will compel students to read more and to keep their love of books alive! Will these reading materials make a difference in my students' learning? You bet! When students are given choices and can read books that they can access on their independent level, the sky is the limit!

About my class
