Eager. Excited. Learners. Teachers. Motivators. Leaders. Achievers. My babies! Each day, my students come to school ready for the adventures of third grade. I am constantly laughing and smiling because they make coming to work so enjoyable. Their excitement for learning fills my heart. My students moan when they get called early to go home because they don't want to miss the math or science lesson. They ask for extra homework and have on several occasions voted to stay inside and do an extended science lesson rather than go outside for recess. Unfortunately, many of them face the challenges of growing up in a household with a parent who is barely able to make ends meet. The vast majority receive services for free or reduced lunch. Classroom supplies and funds for field trips must be requested at least a month in advance because their parents have to save up to purchase even a small three-ring binder. Through it all, they come to school, set goals, and work hard to achieve those goals.
