My students are a group of seven young men who are making the transition from a small, self-contained, special education classroom to a larger, general education classroom. This is the last step for them as they move into a fully integrated, general education setting. I work in an inner city area with a high poverty and high crime rate. My students face many obstacles just to make it so school so everyday that I see them is a success! The young men in my class are intelligent and determined. They understand that they are not defined by any other person's expectations and they strive to become individuals in a world that is ready to group them under a label. They are hardworking and have earned my respect. Everyday, they make me laugh, and they make me proud to be the person that is guiding them through a very arduous phase in their education. They come to school everyday (my attendance rate is near 100%) prepared and excited to learn something new.
