I teach in a K-2 school. My students are moderately to severely impaired (including but not limited to autism, intellectual disability, and medically fragile). Most, if not all of my students do not respond to mainstream classroom teaching techniques. They require small group instruction, they respond beautifully to technology and they learn at their own pace. IEPs are in place for each of them to address their individual needs. Our school is amazingly welcoming to my students. They are included in as many activities as possible and all accomplishments, big and small are celebrated by both staff and students. We have an amazing parent-teacher organization that goes above and beyond all expectations on a yearly basis.
