I teach 21 second grade students each day. The school my students attend is a K-5 in southern California. Most of the students have been at the same school since Kindergarten and they are very close to their fellow students. My students crave innovation. They are "digital natives", meaning they have grown up using the Internet and using the most common technology tools, so it only makes sense to use technology as a supplement to my teaching to keep consistent with what our students are already familiar with. My students get excited when they get to use technology. They gain a sense of pride when they are able to show off their finished products.
