I teach PPCD which stands for Preschool Programs for Students with Disabilities. This is a program for children ages 3-5 who have significant disabilities. Students in my classroom are diagnosed with autism, intellectual disability, speech impairment, other health impairments and more. These students are also economically disadvantaged and do not have access to many of the resources that would help them be successful. Each day we strive to learn basic concepts which are crucial to their academic success. These skills must be taught, repeated and practiced a great deal before they are ingrained. Even though they face significant challenges my students are cheerful, funny and hardworking! It would bring me such joy to see their faces light up when they receive these new materials!
