My Title 1 school is located in the beautiful Appalachian mountains of East Tennessee. My 3rd grade class is very diverse, with the majority of students qualifying for free lunch. I continually strive to teach the children at their developmental level which means I'm constantly looking for new ways to interest them and researching best practices to address the many different learning styles represented in the classroom. I teach reading, math, and science and am currently infusing STEM instruction within these academic areas. I'm a firm believer in keeping the focus on anything I do in the classroom on the children and their needs. My goal for my students is to help them be successful and enjoy being at school, while meeting their academic, social, physical, and behavioral needs.
