The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will mainly be used during writing time, however, they will also be used during different subject times throughout the day. Right now, we only have 5 clipboards in class, so when students want to work or write around the room, they have to use a white board or textbook as a hard writing surface. Clipboards will make working on the carpet much easier for my students. My students love to "write around the room" and these supplies will allow them to do so more often and in a comfortable way. During independent writing time, I find that the majority of my students are more engaged when they are not writing at their desks. I want more flexible seating options for my students during this time. Our classroom also has two papasan chairs that my students LOVE to work in during writing and reading time. Adding wobble stools to the classroom will allow more students the chance to sit in a "fun" chair. Some students will also benefit from having the wobble stool at their desk full time to keep their bodies active and moving. Some students enjoy more privacy during writing time due to how personal some of their stories might be. With the privacy folders, students will be able to work in their own "bubble" and not have to worry about others working around them. Some students get easily distracted by others' movements as well, so this will help them to stay focused.
