My students are working on listening and speaking skills as well as building their background knowledge about a variety of topics. We get into lively discussions and have a lot to say. Research shows that students who can listen to and process a variety of viewpoints are more able to develop their own opinions based on facts and the opinion of others. This is so important in today's world. The Qball will allow students to actively speak in the classroom and be heard. This device is a mobile microphone that students (and their teacher!) can toss to each other. Students can then use the ball as a microphone to add to discussions or Skype sessions. The mobile and playful nature of this device is motivating and effective. Students will want to "catch" the ball to add to discussions!
