Technology is already a part of my students' lives. Since most of them are audio-visual learners they love to watch videos, read books and listen to songs. Researches confirm that the "use of technology in the classroom enhances the teaching process and improves students' learning."I have watched how my students' eyes widened in delight as they watched the wonders of science on the screen. I witnessed how they labored to read those assigned stories and long articles and never finished them because of their limited speed and reading disability. The use of tablets may ease their burden. They can easily access most reading materials in electronic form and continue to read them in their pull out session. Some tablets have text to speech features that read the text to them. In reality, however, not all schools are blessed with technology. Yes, Ipads and chrome books are available in the building but these are shared by close to 800 other children who are also hungry for knowledge. Having tablets available right on my table would benefit my students in my small group. They could easily use them to research their dream careers. They can read, watch and create stories or essays about their dream jobs. They can capture crisp photos and designs to illustrate what they want to be. These tablets will become their windows to the world and to their future.
