I teach 5th grade at a school in central Las Vegas where all students qualify for free/reduced lunch, and where a large percentage of students are English Language Learners. Our community is largely based on tourism, and many families work in the casinos in food services or housekeeping. Our region, like many, has been hit hard by the global pandemic, and I worry the achievement and opportunity gap that exists for my students will grow exponentially. As 5th graders, my students need to be ready for middle school and as best prepared for long-term success as possible. Your support is appreciated.
