My Pre-Kindergarten kids are at a large suburban district school. A large portion of our students are primarily English Language Learners and speak Spanish at home. A majority have either single parent families or two parent working families. However, our students' motivation to learn and excel in their education is HUGE! As educators, we search high and low for alternate avenues of funding, outside of our "general curricula" that is provided by the district. Books along with Cd's to listen to that are non-fiction, exciting and well written for Pre-Kindergarten classrooms are sure to entice kids to dive deeper into reading on their own while using their voices, sentence structure, fluency, grammar, and comprehension in these and future readings and/or writing experiences.
