My classroom focuses on the importance of literacy in today's society. The objective of this class is to improve individual reading skills by first igniting a love of literature based on student interest. It is integral that students first develop a love of reading before they begin to tackle more specialized areas of need. The most important tenet of my classroom is that there is something out there for everyone to read, we just need to discover exactly what that is. I expose my students to various genres of literature as well as various difficulty levels. Another important aspect of my class is that we focus on individual improvement and not perfection. We create realistic goals and develop a plan to reach those goals. With enthusiasm and work ethic the majority of my students are able to reach their goals.
