My scholars attend a Title 1 school that is over 70% English Language Learners. They come from typically low-income first and second generation immigrant families, where most parents speak little to no English. Our school's philosophy is based on the best practices for ELL scholars. We teach for multiple intelligences and offer a body-brain based education. One of our motto's is "Becoming smart in more ways than one through body-brain compatible education." Our scholars attend school Monday-Thursday from 8-5, with only 4 weeks off in the summer. Our scholars receive Hmong Language Development, enrichment, and Movement-based classes daily. Providing hands-on learning opportunities is a critical component to teaching ELL scholars. My fourth grade scholars are inquisitive, helpful, imaginative, and love to work cooperatively in groups and explore.
