My students are a diverse urban population of freshman and seniors in a public school in Wisconsin. They are energetic teenagers who want their educational experience to make connections to their lives and their identities. Many students have limited or no access to the public library due to family/transportation limitations and their exposure to the classroom library is their main source of reading material. Unfortunately, my school does not currently have funds available to purchase books. Reading young adult literature will allow my students a space to personally connect to the literature.
