I am fortunate enough to be teaching 18 students who hail from around the world in my Kindergarten classroom! My kids love songs and hands on activities. In addition to being such wonderful learners and helpers, my students are also a very inquisitive bunch! We work with an emergent curriculum based on the interest of the children. This year the students have expressed interest in wanting to learn more about space, malls, and butterflies. Although my classroom is not a designated English as a Second Language Classroom, I do have eight students who are very new to the country and do not speak English. Our classroom contains Mandarin, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Bengali, Portuguese, and Nepali speakers in it making the students a very diverse group. Because of this we try to have as many hands on learning activities and manipulatives for the children as possible. Our entire school serves a very diverse and supportive community.
