Reading or being read to is the most important part of a child’s day. The art of reading opens doors that otherwise would be forever closed. Teachers and students read during various times of the school day and should be able to quickly and easily choose a set of books that will provide instruction during guided reading groups, classroom read alouds, and student independent reading time. These neon colored heavy duty book bins will provide a means to organize books. In order for the child to receive classroom instruction on his/her level and open those reading doors, book bins labeled with reading levels A to Z, must be created. Through another income source, books for teachers and students have been purchased for use at my school; however, book bins, which are needed to house these books, were unavailable. What has become a problem for teachers and students is that these books have been in cardboard boxes on shelves, not being utilized due to the organization and lack of bins to make these books easily accessible. It is important that teachers at my school use their time wisely, planning appropriate lessons and engaging students, not digging through cardboard boxes to find appropriately leveled books. By donating to my project, you will be providing a means for teachers to organize books and take less time choosing appropriate classroom materials. Teachers and students will thank you immensely!
