All of my students have special needs and are also English language learners. The development of language is a primary focus in our room since many of my students have language delays. Our students are also working on their social skills and their ability to play cooperatively with others. Some of my students are selectively mute and do not speak at school. For a couple of these students, the only time they will communicate with others is when they are playing pretend in our dramatic area. Our Early Education center is located in a low income area where many of our students may not have opportunities to play pretend with their peers when they are at home.
