My NYC students are in a title 1 school that shares resources and facilities with several other schools. This makes it difficult for them to access sites such as the library. Additionally, many books were lost last year for our community during the superstorm. Although many of my students are currently reading below grade level our dedicated staff is encouraging independent reading and small group instruction to help my students. It would be greatly beneficial if I was able to offer them a wide variety of multicultural books that might spark an interest and develop a lifelong love of learning.
