I have a class of 27 2nd graders. More than likely, that number will be above 30 before the year is out. Most students come to school without their basic needs met. They rely on the school to feed them breakfast and lunch. They rely on our school nurse to seek free dental care. They rely on donations from teachers and other staff to give them new clothes as they outgrow their old ones. Very few of them have books at home, or families that know how to support their learning. They rely on our whole school to foster their social and academic skills to help them grow into successful, thoughtful citizens.

About my class
