Our students are amazing. Despite many disadvantages, they work together to be the best performers that they can be. There is no "feeder" program for our high school so we have just these 1-4 years to take our students from virtually no music knowledge to as far as we can take them. Ours is a comprehensive public high school with over 2000 students. 75% of our student body is on the free or reduced lunch program and 25% of our students are English language learners. Many of our students aspire to be the first in their family to attend college. We are situated in an unincorporated area of a very large county which means that there are is no city to support us and most nearby businesses claim neighboring cities for their financial support. Our campus just celebrated its 50th anniversary and many of our facilities and technologies are a little of of date. Yet for all our disadvantages, our students still dream big and work hard to realize their dreams.
