We are an urban school of approximately 600 students. We are a Title I school with more than 90% of students on free or reduced lunch. Forty-eight percent of students are English Second Language Learners. Most of their parents do not speak English. They are sweet students and want to learn more, but they lack vocabulary and are not exposed to reading English at home. Our students live in a low income community and lack resources at home. They do not have Internet access at home or books to read.
