Utilizing the design of a kidney table versus a rectangular/square table, promotes the ability to provide a more individualized, structured and personalized small group setting. I will be closer to students as they read or use manipulatives. After strategizing with the teacher, they will have the opportunity to read in a stimulating library area as well! The kidney table will also be a magnificent area to conduct any group activities with my students in all content areas. The use of this activity table will also support teamwork and socialization, which are very critical for this age group in their growth and development.
