A new school needs help funding the performing arts! Our school is a newly configurated elementary school, which serves as a model for the state. We serve 5th and 6th grade students and I am the teacher of instrumental music. Our school houses students from the inner-city with approximately 90% of the student body receiving free or reduced lunch. My students and their families are rarely able to purchase or rent a band instrument or supplies such as workbooks, reeds, valve oil, etc. Therefore, most of the departments allotted budget goes toward purchasing and maintaining school instruments that are loaned out to the students.
