I am asking for a collection of picture books to read to my students so that we can participate in the classroom book a day challenge. We will read a picture book every day of the school year. These books will teach my students empathy ("Be Kind"), community ("All Are Welcome"), perseverance ("Jabari Jumps") and many other important skills. In addition, books like "Mistakes that Worked" will allow us to read quality non-fiction together as a class. As a teacher some of my most memorable moments are when I am reading a good book with my students. This project allows us to share 180 stories together. The opportunity to build community and grow as learners is infinite. I look forward to my students rushing home and saying, "you won't believe the book Mrs. DeLand read to me today!"
