The current system leaves the youth unprepared to successfully reach their full academic potential. Low income and underprivileged children are forced to attend under resourced schools and receive an inadequate education. Every child has the ability to succeed, but at times, they need that added push to reach their full potential. While not only improving basic skills, in areas such as math, I want to be able to provide students with the ambition to pursue their education post high school. Education is a right and privilege of every citizen of the United States, and it is our duty as Americans to ensure that every child seeks this right by ensuring that dedicated and qualified educations are placed in student's lives. The time to change these educational disparities is now. 60% of my students are African-American, 8% White, 16% Hispanic, 13% Asian, and 3% Other. 95% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. All of my students want the opportunity to learn.
