I teach 4 classes of amazing, creative, hilarious high school students in Math Resource, a Special Education class. These students have a range of special needs and learning disabilities, but all of them dream of going to college and being able to support themselves and their families. We have an incredibly diverse student body ranging from all neighborhoods of Chicago and many different backgrounds. My students have been placed in this smaller class setting so that I can address their individual strengths and needs. We cover not only PSAT and SAT math to prepare them for college placement exams, but also many real world applications like budgeting, creating blue prints, and solving word problems. As high school students, they each have big dreams and plans for their lives after graduation, and are willing to do the work to make those dreams a reality.
