My students are mainly Hispanic, living in an urban poor neighborhood of Los Angeles. Despite living in crowded, difficult conditions, they come to school hungry to learn. My students come from homes with decent, hard-working parents who want better for their children. It is an honor to teach them, as they are willing to try their best every day, work really hard, and persevere through difficult material. The first thing my students see when they walk in the door is a poster telling them how to get into college. My expectations throughout the year are focused on this goal. Our school is staffed by dedicated teachers who choose to teach in this area of high need.
