I love teaching and shaping the minds of young learners. It is my mission to keep students engaged and excited about learning. I feel that once a child loves school and feels loved and safe, you can teach them anything. As an Early Childhood teacher, having the materials available to create a warm and engaging environment is key. I work in a very poor area In Memphis that is 99% free lunch. Many of my students have very limited resources such as toys and games at home that are vital to creating enriching experience. Although this is a Title I school, funding is used for personnel to assist with the students who have severely challenging behavior and educational needs that are difficult to meet in the classroom with one teacher. My school does not have a PTO or PTA to raise funds. The school's efforts at fundraising have been unsuccessful. Donors Choose is my only chance at getting materials for my students.
