After two years of virtual learning, our students are back in the building and facing a much different school environment than they have ever known. Instead of group seating, my 5th graders are in socially distanced rows. Keeping energetic 10 and 11 year olds motivated and energized while sitting at their desks all day is no easy task! This is where incentives come into play. These students are eager to learn, but sometimes a little extra boost goes a long way! Not only that, snacks to keep their bellies full and their minds focused on work, rather than a growling stomach, are always beneficial. The 40+ students in my grade level are split between the two smallest rooms in our school building. All that close contact makes for a LOT of germs! Sanitizing supplies are crucial during these times. Plus, they love to help keep their desks and work areas clean! Keeping the room clean, helps to keep our students healthy and well so they aren't at home with the sniffles missing school.
