I am a fifth grade teacher at a school that serves a population where more than 90% of the students receive free and reduced lunch. The students are also racially diverse and come from countries such as Sudan, Bosnia, The Dominican Republic, Haiti and Somalia. I try to create a safe haven within my classroom for my students and create our "school family". Despite the daily challenges, there is no other place that I would rather teach.
