I have been an elementary school librarian and a reading coach and I know how to match students to books. My fifth-graders need their own collection of fun and interesting books to start the year off strong. Research shows that time engaged in independent reading is the number one indicator of student reading achievement. The most important aspect in this statistic is that students need choice! In my two classes of readers, I will have a diverse group with varied interests and abilities. Thank you so much for your support!
