Our students are sixth through eight grade girls in a rural Louisiana public school. There are approximately 15% of our 400 female students that are overweight. Often times they come to us asking how to become more fit and are very concerned about their outward appearance. Using the heart rate monitors during their physical education class, they will have the opportunity to increase their heart rates thus improving their overall fitness.
