Only 2.5% (that's 1 out of 40) black boys in Chicago Public Schools will graduate from a 4-year college or university. Our charter school, located in the heart of Chicago, is a safe-haven from many of the threats and environmental factors that make this harsh statistic a reality. I believe that endowing my students with reading skills will not only lend itself to success in all other academic subjects, but it will also ensure the self-reliance and self-advocacy necessary to deliver my students from the hardships they might face.

About my class
