At my school site a high percentage of the students are second language learners. They also come from lower income areas and don't have access to reading materials in the home. They are struggling to master reading and need high interest good literature. Some of my students also have parents who aren't reading above a 2nd grade level and the kids want to share their books with their parents...what a wonderful way for a family to bond!
