This year I have thirty young 5th grade minds who are incredibly curious, very kind to each other, and eager to learn about the world in which we live. As we shift to the new Common Core Standards there is a clear emphasis placed on the importance of Informational reading and writing. Currently, my students have a love for learning and literacy, however I need to deepen and strengthen their literacy skills through teaching reading and writing with more rigorous lessons in order to prepare them for the demands of Middle School, High School and beyond to ensure they continue to be lifelong learners.

About my class
